The AG 2400 is a next-generation Internet access gateway that extends a wired or Wi-Fi network to create a public Internet access network. Designed for smaller properties, such as hotels with less than 150 rooms, the AG 2400 supports up to 200 simultaneous mobile devices.
Built upon Intel’s high-performance processors, the AG 2400 hardware platform sports built-in flash memory. When combined with the proven Nomadix Service Engine (NSE) Core Software, the AG 2400 becomes an appliance with unparalleled reliability. Regular software updates from Nomadix ensure that the AG 2400 is up to date and performing optimally.
Using the Nomadix NSE software engine, the AG 2400 supports multiple authentication models to not only enable users to connect quickly and securely to the Internet but also help business operators prevent unauthorized access. The “Remember Me” function stores subscriber log-ins to create a better user experience.
With flexible billing options for both users and business operators, the AG 2400 can charge by volume, time or bandwidth. The gateway also facilitates a wide variety of options through credit card interface over SSL, Radius client or via secure XML API enabling, which includes more than 30 PMS types and third-party application integration. Business operators can generate revenue at every touch point with the user before, during and after connection.
Bandwidth management ensures that bandwidth limits can be placed on each device accessing the network. This includes conformable group bandwidth capability so that groups, and even as a collection of subscribers, can be defined as needed for any given purpose. The Information Control Console allows for the increase of bandwidth and a dynamic change in price plans.
Nomadix offers a range of software modules for all of the Gateway models.
The High-Availability Failover Module pairs two Nomadix gateways, providing a backup to pick up users if one gateway is disconnected from the network. The settings (except IP addresses) between the two gateways synchronize automatically to enhance functionality.
Nomadix offers a wide range of property management system (PMS) interfaces to allow for reliable, in-room guest billing for high-speed Internet access (HSIA) service. This module includes a two-way PMS interface for billing in Wi-Fi-enabled networks and uses “bill mirror” functionality, allowing records to be easily posted to multiple sources. The Nomadix Service Engine (NSE) also supports billing over a TCP/IP connection to select PMS interfaces.
With the Load Balancing Module from Nomadix, Internet traffic is balanced across multiple WAN/ISP connections to ensure that the traffic demands placed on HSIA are distributed based on the capability of each connection. This is of value when multiple links are used to optimize cost for Internet service, such as balancing traffic between one low-cost DSL WAN/ISP and one high-performance, high-capacity WAN/ISP. Hotels also have the option to enable tiered service reflecting the capacity of the WAN/ISP connection.
The Link Failover feature of the Load Balancing Module is designed to improve business continuity. In the event that one or more links fail, traffic is seamlessly rerouted to the remaining surviving links without missing a beat. When the failed links recover, new connections are routed toward the now-working links until a normal, balanced configuration is reached.
Many load balancers on the market are offered as separate appliances, which can be difficult to set up. When two appliances are required, the Internet access gateway must be configured with the load balancer—a process that can lead to misalignment between the load balancer and the gateway. This, in turn, results in the load balancing features not functioning properly.
The Nomadix Load Balancing Module is an optional software module that can be easily enabled for Nomadix Service Engine (NSE) 8.2 software, making testing of additional ISP links possible in just a few minutes. By consolidating the Load Balancer within the gateway, you can rest assured that true load balancing is achieved by one appliance.
With the Nomadix Load Balancing Module, the cost of the module is licensed as a one-time fee for that particular NSE. By eliminating the need for yet another appliance in the data path of the guest HSIA network, the Nomadix Load Balancing Module helps to improve overall system reliability.
